Quite a few changes will be implemented in order for us to open and for you to get a piercing at the studio. Some of these changes are required by the state's Phase 1 Opening plan, and some are new requirement by the Body Arts industry's governing body, Oregon Health Authority. The rules and regulations governing body piercing have been very stringent prior to Covid-19, and have always included strict sanitation standards; cleaning the piercing area with high level disinfectant between clients, gloves worn for entire procedure, sterile implements and jewelry are just a few. These will continue, with the addition of others.
If you are not willing to follow
these new requirements, please do not schedule an appointment.
Due to the size of the studio, only the person being pierced will be allowed inside - no companions, no exceptions. If the person being pierced is a minor, only one parent can accompany them to complete the release form.
Piercing and help with your piercing is done only by appointment – no walk-ins, no exceptions. The times are extended so that all touched areas can be sanitized between clients. Jewelry sales can take place ONLY if there is time between clients; if you require help to put your jewelry in, you will have to schedule an appointment.
If you make an appointment, keep your appointment. If you are more than 5 minutes late for your appointment, you will have to reschedule. Appointment scheduling may be easiest via my scheduling app
Also, scheduling can be done through messenger @badkittiespiercing / instagram @jkitties or email firstname.lastname@example.org . The door will be locked between appointments. Please remain outside or in your car until you receive a text with the OK to come in.
I will be wearing face mask during your entire appointment and, during the piercing, gloves and weird looking protective covering over my clothes (I have several and this will be sanitized between clients).
When you arrive, inside the door:
You will be asked the usual Covid-19 questions relating to symptoms. If you answer yes to any, you will be required to reschedule and leave the premises. Please don't be the person who would not be truthful so that you can get a piercing!
You must be wearing a face mask when you enter and at all times during your visit (I will also be wearing one)
You will have your temperature taken with a touch-less forehead thermometer when you arrive for your appointment. If your temperature is 100.3 or over, you will be asked to reschedule and to leave the premises.
You will be required to use provided hand sanitizer before continuing with the check in process.
The piercing release forms have always required name, address, email and phone number. They are now also required in case of infection transmission.
Some changes are made by the studio for the protection of the piercer and the client.
At this time, the decision is made to NOT pierce anyone under 13 years of age.
Septum and oral piercings (tongue, lip) will NOT be done at this time. I know this is disappointing for some of you, but it will be revisited as more is discovered about the health and healing process of fresh piercings while wearing face masks.
I will still be giving aftercare instructions verbally, but printed aftercare instructions will no longer be given at the studio. A link to the aftercare will be emailed to you following your piercing and I strongly suggest you print it so you can easily refer to it when needed.
All areas that have a high probability of being touched will be sanitized between clients (ie: doorknobs, tablets); all other areas cleaned at least 2x a day (ie: floors, other surfaces).
